Good starter watch July 11, 2010 micsmom I purchased this as a replacement of the exact same watch for my 9 year old. It is a very good watch. My only suggestion is to have a sturdier crystal. My son manages to break the crystal on his first one when he fell with it on. The watch still ran, you just couldn't see it through the shattered crystal. I bought the replacement because it was cheaper than having the first one repaired.
Timex watch review May 20, 2010 J. M. Verbois (Tylertown,Ms.) These watches were given as Christmas gifts, and were exactly as told they would be. My grandchildren loved them.
My son hasn't killed it yet! May 1, 2010 C. Jacoby (Falls Church, VA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My nine year old son has had--and quickly destroyed--several wrist watches in the past few years. Finally, for his last birthday, I thought it was time to get him a "real" watch. This Timex fit the bill.
My son is rough on his stuff, and I chose this watch for him because it has a mineral glass crystal instead of the more common acrylic plastic crystal. The glass is harder and more scratch resistant. The slightly oversized case looks bulky in the pictures, but it's much better proportioned when you see it in person, and it provides excellent protection to the crown.
The infinitely adjustable wrist strap is also a nice feature. The watch is easy to put on, and you can make the band as snug--or loose--as you'd like. My only longer-term concern is that the velcro may wear out faster than a traditional watch band. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it--it's held up very well for the past month, which has included an awful lot of "watch demonstrations."
My son loves his watch. It keeps excellent time, as all quartz watches should. It's durable, and it's fairly attractive in a rugged, chunky kind of way. I'm very pleased with it.
Bought for Grandson April 23, 2010 Grandma Karen (Green Bay, WI) Bought this watch for my 5 year old grandson and he loved it. He is just learning to tell time and needed a watch with numbers. Watch is easy to read and the velcro watchband is easy for him to put on his wrist by himself. The mineral watch face looks like it will withstand wear and tear of a 5 year old. Very satisfied.
Looks great, but consider it "disposable" April 16, 2010 Jenifer (seattle, wa) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am a long time Timex owner (no pun intended), and was eager to provide my 8 year old nephew with his first Timex, an Indiglo. I chose a cute kids model that Timex said was age appropriate and water resistant. It was way too big, it died after about 6 months. I figured it was just bad luck. I tried again, and bought him this model, which he loved, it fit him perfectly, and he took good care of it, wouldn't go near water with it, in spite of it's claim of being water resistant. It died after 3 months. I don't know what's happened to Timex quality, but clearly it's hard to make a cheap watch that actually works. Ironically, my Timex finally died after about 10 years, but that's at least better than 3 months. I love the idea of these watches, but if they break, they cost as much to send in to repair "under warranty" as they do to purchase, so consider them disposable. Or better yet, just don't buy these cheap ones. Hopefully the more expensive ones last longer.
