Great watch, band does not last, not easy to replace August 21, 2010 C. Lew I really like this watch, I am male w/narrow wrists and this watch fits great. Functions are awesome as well, I carry this with me when I travel for my alarm clock, etc. Visibility of the display, in bright sunlight and in the dark (indiglo) also good.
My major complaint on this watch is the band does not last very long, and the OEM Timex brand replacements are very difficult to find. What I found on the web was a replacement that is half the price of the watch. From what I have read, the imitation replacements do not fit/feel the same, and very difficult to change/replace.
Obviously Timex knows this...is this their strategy to have their customers buy and replace their watches every couple of years? Not a great way to create customer loyalty. At a min, they should be making replacement OEM bands more available to their customers...or show a warning that the bands only last 1-2 yrs. Gee, I wonder how many people would buy their watches with this warning...I guess the warranty that does not cover the band was their way of communicating this..
Keeps on ticking June 24, 2010 J. Seaman I have had this watch for 5 years and it is still running strong after daily use, including leading backpacking trips, attached to my PFD while teaching whitewater kayaking, and exercising. I have replaced the battery a couple times but so what? This is to be expected. Still works as good as new. I rue the day when I have to get a new watch, and when I do, I will buy another one of these. For $30 you can't go wrong.
Perfect November 23, 2009 Fox (Seattle, WA) Love this watch. Just does what it needs to do. Reliable, rugged. I had one for maybe 10 years (had the battery replaced a couple times.) When it eventually wore out, I got a new one. When I lost that one, I bought it again.
Great watch - died after 3 years - now buying a new one July 8, 2009 A. C. Asher (Bethesda, MD USA) This watch has worked great for me nearly every day for 3 years. It is finally time to replace it - because the watch band is breaking where the end tucks in. But this watch has been so good, I am buying a new one.
Band can be replaced fairly easily... May 31, 2009 S. Seo (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all, I love this watch. Regarding the band issue, I bought a replacement band for this watch (16mm band) from Voguestrap (but I imagine other replacement bands would be similar) and tried to use the included band spring tool (metallic, 3 inches, a U-shape on one end and a sharp point on the other) to NO avail for 10 minutes. Then I figured out the EASY way. Get a small flathead screwdriver (I used the one on my small Swiss Army pocketknife), place the band spring into one of the watchband straps, insert one end of the spring into the anchoring hole of the watch, then use the flathead screwdrive to depress the other end of the spring, push the spring/band end into the watch slot. Then use the flathead and push hard on the spring until it seats into the anchoring hole. This maneuver takes about 2 minutes to execute and works! Let me know how this works for you. By the way, I have absolutely no financial interest in any of these products and no expertise in watches, just a guy trying to help, as I have been helped by these forums.
